The Flow of Formwork Construction

Material Takeoff

Review the construction drawings to determine the dimensions and shapes of columns, beams, floors, and walls where concrete will be poured. Create detailed drawings and order the necessary materials.

Processing

Using the materials ordered during the takeoff, create the processed components. Plywood and wooden strips are commonly used for this purpose.

Layout

Mark the positions on-site where the formwork will be installed. Pre-marking these positions helps eliminate waste and errors during installation.

Erection

Based on the layout markings, erect the processed components and panels. This step must be done meticulously since the erected formwork determines the building's shape. Use a level to repeatedly check for vertical accuracy.

Tightening

Secure the erected formwork using form ties and scaffolding pipes. When concrete is poured, pressure is exerted from the inside of the formwork outward. If the formwork is not properly tightened, it can deform, making this a crucial step.

Concrete Pouring

Pour ready-mixed concrete into the formwork. This task is performed by specialized contractors. Formwork carpenters monitor the process closely to check for any issues or impacts on the formwork.

Formwork Removal

After confirming that the poured concrete has gained sufficient strength, remove the formwork. This process is done gradually over several days.

Completion of the Structure

Once the formwork removal is complete, the formwork construction is finished. Clean the site to remove any debris or dirt before moving on to the finishing work.
